Mercy Johnson Okojie Early Life
Mercy Johnson-Okojie is a Nollywood actress born to Mr. Daniel Johnson, a naval officer and Elizabeth Elizabeth Johnson on August 28, 1984. She is a native of Okene in Kogi State, Nigeria and the fourth in the family of seven children. She was born in Lagos.
Mercy started her primary education in Calabar and due to nature of his job was transferred to Lagos where she continued her education at the Nigerian Navy Primary School. She did her secondary school at the Rivers State Secondary School and the Nigerian Navy Secondary School in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Mercy while growing up experienced some hard time especially when it comes to paying school fees and she later revealed that even had to hawk at one point to make ends meet. According to her, her entrance into the Nigerian Movie Industry was because she failed her entrance examinations into the university.
Just after her secondary school she auditioned for a role in the movie, The Maid which was successfully and she played the role of Jane in it. This was in 2004. Her performance in that movie would be the reason for her launch into stardom in the industry and in the hearts of many Nigerians who loved the home movies. She is one of the highest paid Nollywood actresses and this led to her being banned from the industry. The ban was later lifted after she apologized to marketers/ producers on the 9th March, 2014.
For her acting prowess and exposure to the Nigerian public she won the Best Actress at African Magic Viewers Choice Award of 2013 for the movie, Dumebi, the Dirty Girl. Between 2012 and 2013 she was listed by Google as the most searched Nollywood Celebrity. She has been featured in well over 100 movies, many of which she played her role very well.

In 2011, Merch tied the knot with Prince Odianosen Okojie well known as Odi. Prince Odi has been married before to Lovely Okojie and they had 2 kids together. Mercy also has three kids with him; Purity Ozioma Okojie, Henry Ozioma Okojie and Angel Onosetale Okojie. All three were born in Maryland, USA.

She founded the Mercy Johnson Foundation that supports children and widows that are less privileged. On the 23rd of December, 2013 she made a donation of materials to 5000 widows in Uromi, Edo State, and her husband home area. These items included mainly foodstuffs and other domestic materials.
