25-year-old Stanley Adeyunju has been arraigned before a Badagry Chief Magistrate’s Court in Lagos, for allegedly stealing three cartons of groundnut oil.
On New Year’s eve, Stanley Adeyunju of 24, Wilfred Street IyanAfin Area of Badagry Lagos was arraigned before the Magistrate court on a one count charge of stealing three cartons of vegetable oil.
Chief Prosecutor of the case, Innocent Uko, told the court that the cartons of oil stolen by the accused, belonged to one Morenike Badmus; stating that the theft occurred on December 31, 2016, at a shopping complex sutuated at the Ajara area of Badagry.
“The accused stole the cartons of groundnut oil under the pretence that he wanted to purchase them. Instead of paying, he ran away with the items but was caught afterwards ,” said the prosecutor.
Mr. Uko went on to say that the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.
The accused’s legal counsel, Timothy Ukoha, pleaded with the court to grant bail to his client on liberal terms promising that his client would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Abiodun Etti, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with a surety who must provide evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government .
Justice Etti adjourned the case till March 17 for further hearing.
