2019 General Election: Nigerian Army set up 9 man panel to investigate allegations made against it personel

– The Nigerian Army has set up a nine-man panel to investigate allegations of misconduct made against its personnel during the 2019 General Election

– According to the statement released by the body, reports from the panel is to be submitted not later than March 31

With the 2019 General Election now over in almost every part of the country except for some states where elections will take place on the 23rd of March, the Nigerian Army has taken steps to find out about alleged misconduct made against it personnel during the election.

According to a report, the Nigerian Army has set up a nine-man panel to investigate allegations of misconduct made against it personnel.

In a statement released by the Nigerian Army Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Sagir Musa yesterday,  he made it known that Major General Gagariga will head the committee, whose responsibility is to thoroughly investigate the activities, actions, and inactions of the Nigerian Army personnel in all states that alleged one infraction, wrongdoing or the other.

According to the statement, it made it known that the Chief of Administration (Army),Major General KAY Isiyaku, inaugurated the committee and that it had since begun work.

The report also made it known that the committee were expected to submit their report within six weeks after inauguration.

As a way of ensuring that Nigerian Army troops deployed for election security duties during the 2019 general elections conducted themselves within laid down rules of engagement and the Code of Conduct, the Nigerian Army has set up  a 9-member investigative committee, headed by Major General TA Gagariga with Brig. Gen. JM Ali, Brig. Gen GO Adeshina.

Brig Gen MA Obari,  Col AT Bitiyong, Col A Tanko and Col WA Bakare as members and Lt Col PAJ Ebuk as Secretary to investigate all allegations of misconduct against the Nigerian Army during the just concluded general elections. “The committee is to submit its report not later than  March 31, 2019.
