2Face Idibia Biography

Also popularly known as Tuface or 2face Idibia, Innocent Ujah Idibia is a Nigerian born singer, songwriter, producer and entrepreneur. The famous performer was born in Plateau State Nigeria and is regarded as one of the most successful and celebrated Afro pop artists in Africa.

2Face Early Life

Innocent Ujah Idibia was born in Jos. Plateau state on the 18th of September, 1975 and hails from the Idoma tribe of Benue State. 2face attended St. Gabriel’s Secondary School, Makurdi. He later enrolled for a preliminary National Diploma in Business Administration at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu.

While schooling at IMT, Tuface performed at school shows and parties and this marked the beginning of his music career. He also composed and sang jingles at the Enugu State Broadcasting Services (ESBS) at the time.

2face eventually dropped out of IMT to focus on his music career. In 1996, he chose the stage name “2face” and explained that the name signifies a differentiation between his business life and personal life.

2Face Rise to Fame

Tuface’s rise to fame can be traced back to his times with Plantashun Boiz. Plantashun Boiz was a trio band formed by Tuface alongside rapper Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo also known as Blackface and Chibuzor Orji known as Face.

In the year 2000, Plantashun Boiz released an album titled Body and Soul under the Nelson Browns owned label, Dove records. The album was successful and brought the three artists to limelight. They released another album, Sold Out in 2003 which was also successful.

In the year 2004, the trio broke up to start their own solo music careers due to many years of marred relationship. Same year, after the disbandment of the Plantashun Boiz, Tuface released his first solo album Face 2Face.

He released another album Grass 2 Grace in 2006. Grass 2 Grace was of the earliest albums that led to Tuface’s stardom as it contained several hits tracks including One Love, True Love and 4 Instance. Also in 2006, Tuface also had one of hit songs, African Queen used as soundtrack for an internationally released movie “Phat Girlz”. This further fuelled his fame.

The Plantashun Boiz trio came back again to perform a third and final album titled Plan B in the year 2007.

In 2010, Tuface released an “international” edition of one of his album The Unstoppable which he had earlier released in the year 2009. He titled it The Unstoppable International Edition. This made him the first Nigerian performer to have an appropriately priced international album.

Tuface was once a part of the Kennis music label until he left to form his own record label known as Hypertek Entertainment. He was part of the Sony All African One8 project which led him to recording a single with R.Kelly and Prince Lee. The song was tilted Hands across the World.

2face Awards and Nominations

Tuface has received many awards both locally and internationally. The Unstoppable International Edition won him two awards at the Sound City Music Video Awards in 2010. He also won the Best African Western awards at the Channel O Music Video Awards as well as other three from the same platform. Another was the Best Mae Artist of the Year awards at the MTV Africa Music Awards.

Other awards he has received include MOBO Award, KORA award as well as BET award.

Tuface is the first non-Liberian to be honoured as a member of the Liberian Music Society for his contributions to the promotion of music in Africa. Tuface is an ambassador for many brands and associations including the Red Cross, Guinness, and Nigerian Breweries, National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) among others. He released a song Man Unkind to raise awareness on the dangers of fake and substandard foods and drugs.

2face is an international Youth Ambassador for Peace Summit and was presented with the Nigeria Youth Merit Awards by the National Youth Council of Nigeria in 2009.

He was one of the judges for The Voice Nigeria in 2018 alongside Patoranking, Waje and Timi Dakolo.

Tuface is reported to have an estimated net worth of about $22 million dollars. He is a well-known entrepreneur. Tuface runs a night club known as Rumour Night Club located in Lagos.  He is also the CEO of Hypertek Entertainment, his record label. In addition, the singer has an NGO called 2Face Idibia Reach-out Foundation

2Face Personal Life, Relationship and Marriage

Tuface’s relationship and marriage is probably one of the most unusual of all Nigerian celebrities. Although he has many children from different women, he is married to just one. He got married to Annie Idibia in Lagos on the 2nd of May, 2012 in a private wedding ceremony. The traditional wedding later took place in Akwa Ibom State on the 8th of March 2013 followed by a Dubai white wedding on the 23rd of the same month. The singer was said to have announced his marriage on his twitter page.

For his fortieth birthday in 2015, he organised a concert titled the FORTYfied All Start Tribute Concert which was hosted by comedian Basketmouth. The concert featured performance by popular singers like Waje, Burna Boy, Patoranking, Wizkid, Sound Sultan, Vector, D’banj and Seyi Shay among others.

In February 2019, a few days to valentine, it was rumoured that Tuface probably got another woman pregnant after he reportedly posted an apology to his wife on his Twitter page without any specified offence.

2Face Children

2face currently has seven children from different mothers.  Isabelle is Tuface’s first daughter by Annie. Annie also has another daughter for the singer named Olivia. Then there is Nino and Zion from a woman named Sumbo Ajala. Nino is the oldest of 2face’s children. There is Justin and Rose whose mother is named Pero Adeniyi . Tuface’s last son is Innocent Idibia.

2Face Latest Album

Tuface has many songs to his credit. He has also done numerous collaborations with both Nigerian and foreign artistes.

Tuface currently has a total of six albums. His albums include The Ascension, Face 2 Face, Grass 2 Grace, Away and Beyond and The Unstoppable.
