3 Supporters of APC Killed In Auto Crash During Campaign In Lagos State

Tragedy struck, on Monday, January 4th, at Festac Town, after three All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters lost their lives in an auto crash while during the campaign tour of Senator Solomon Adeola, (APC Lagos West) Amuwo Odofin council and Oriade Local Council Development Area, in Lagos State.

According to sources, the incident was known to have occurred at about 12.20 pm between Apple Junction and Festac Link Bridge, which involved a Toyota Thundra pick-up with number plates FST 01LG. The tragic incident was caused according to reports due to high speed.

Individuals such as Shetima Bulus, Irikefe Evwibovwe and Alex reportedly died on the spot, while the likes of Chinelo Ofegbu, Wasiu Sadiq and Adebayo Adeleke, Fatope Saheed, Adio Kazeem and Jamiu Ogundairo sustained several injuries of a different kind.

Some policemen from Festac Division, according to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer identified as Chike Oti, got to the scene and deposited the dead bodies at the Isolo General Hospital.

It was gathered by several sources close to the area that the vehicle was on high on speed and made an attempt to join Adeola’s convoy when it somersaulted in the process.

However, it was also reported that the tragic incident disrupted the programme which was supposed to take place yesterday, as Senator Adeola quickly rounded up the day’s campaign after observing a minute silence in honour of the dead set of people at the venue of a stakeholder meeting in the area.

According to sources, Senator Adeola, said in a statement by his Media Adviser identified as Chief Kayode Odunaro, said:

“It is quite an unfortunate accident. I sympathise with those injured and in hospital. I pray for the peaceful repose of the soul of these supporters of APC.”
