37-Year-Old Trader Jailed For 21 Years For Defiling 6-Year-Old Girl In Lagos State
A Lagos State High Court, sitting in Igbosere, on Wednesday, January 6th, sentenced a 37 years old trader identified as Ahmed Ayanyemi, for raping his neighbour’s six-year-old daughter.
Justice Sedoten Ogunsanya of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Igbosere sentenced him to jail after he entered a plea bargain and pleaded guilty to the offence of raping his neighbour’s 6-year-old girl.
The judge, Justice Sedoten Ogunsanya, stated that the convict’s jail term will begin from November 19, 2016, when he was first remanded in prison custody.
Ahmed Ayanyemi was known to have committed the offence at 61 Kaka Zone II, in the Ayobo area, at about 7 pm, on October 25, in the year 2016.
The convict, Ahmed Ayanyemi, was said to have also performed foreplay with the minor before raping the 6-year-old girl.
The Convict was first arraigned in court on October 26, 2016, before an Ogba magistrate’s court for raping his neighbour’s six-year-old daughter.
The prosecuting officer identified as Raphael Donny made it clear that the offence which Ahmed Ayanyemi committed was punishable under section 135 (1) of the Criminal Laws of Nigeria, 2011.

However, Ahmed Ayanyemi previously pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge preferred against him.
The presiding Magistrate in the court identified as F. Ikobayo admitted the suspect to bail of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The convict was however re-arraigned back to court November 19, 2016, before the High court, and his trial on account of his offence began.
The convict, Ahmed Ayanyemu, however, opted for a plea bargain and stated that he was guilty of the offence, and his plea bargain was granted by the court of law and he was sentenced accordingly to his offence which is a 21 years imprisonment.
