Trippier On The Brink Of Joining Atletico Madrid

Tottenham right-back, Kieran Trippier is reportedly on the verge of finalising a move to Spanish giants, Atletico Madrid in a deal worth £20 million and the English man has been given permission to travel to the Wanda Metropolitano for his medicals.

The full back who was a key part of the England squad at the 2018 World Cup held in Russia endured a difficult season last term and Mauricio Pochettino is willing to let him go as he rebuilds his team for what he refers to as a ‘new chapter’.

Atletico are on the lookout for a replacement for the departed Juanfran and have made inquiries about Barcelona’s Nelson Semedo only to be rebuffed. They have since then monitored Trippier for some weeks, registering their interest with the Lilywhites and making the move for the full-back.

Tottenham have excused Trippier from their pre-season tour to Singapore and if the deal goes through, Pochettino will be left with only Serge Aurier and Kyle Walker-Peters to battle for that spot. Poch is also confident that Argentine Juan Foyth normally a centre-half could fit well into that position.

The Lilywhites remain interested in Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon and twin brother, Steven, a right back.

Tottenham who look settled financially at the moment have already broken their club record in signing Lyon midfielder, Tanguy Ndombele for a reported fee of £55 million. They have also captured Jack Clarke for £10 million but the player has returned in loan to Leeds United.

With Spurs still looking to make a few more signings this summer, they would be needing to make transfer sales if they are to have any hopes of landing Saint Etienne’s William Saliba or Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos.
