5% VAT: Nigerians lament on acclaimed new imposition

– Nigerians have taken to the Social Media to lament on the claim that the Government plans to impose 5% VAT on online transaction 

Following claims that the Federal Government intends to impose 5% Value Added Tax VAT on online transactions, Nigerians have taken to the Social Media to express their reaction on the supposed regulations.

With this 5% VAT eh, i pity Nigeria local online stores like @JumiaNigeria @JijiNigeria e.t.c because from next year ppl will prefer buying with cash at hand instead of paying VAT to that stupid government that cannot take care of her people but keep reaping us in cunny ways.

5% vat on online purchase when vat would have been added before purchase, so purchasing with my card simply means, I am paying 10% vat. This government is insensitive, they just keep collecting from us to finance their existence.

Government just wants to keep us in eternal bondage. Why should I pay you 5% VAT for buying something from another person? When you are not the delivery company… Do these people even think?
