Abule Egba Pipeline Explosion Leaves Two Dead

The death of two persons has been confirmed so far over the explosion at one of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) pipelines at Ekoro, Abule Egba area, Lagos State on Sunday night.

The incident left has led to the loss of several properties as well.

iDONSABI gathered that the inferno was as a result of pipeline vandals who burst one of the oil pipelines in the area to siphon the product.

The Lagos Commissioner for Information and Strategy Gbenga Omotoso, who confirmed the casualty figure revealed that the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and other security/emergency agencies have activated their machinery to fight the fire.

“Two bodies have been recovered by LASEMA from the inferno. Further investigation has revealed that the inferno was as a result of the activity of pipeline vandals. Hence, two adult males have been confirmed dead, while 11 trucks laden with 40-feet containers were destroyed and about Seven buildings razed so far,” he added.

The inferno has displaced several residents who have fled their abodes for fear of being caught up in it.
