Achuba: Remain Calm And Observe The Dramas, Wada Tells PDP Supporters

  • Wada calls for calm among his supporters.
  • Warns Governor Yahaya Bello not to overheat the polity.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Nov. 16, Election in Kogi, Mr Musa Wada, has described impeachment of the state Deputy Governor, Simon Achuba as illegal and undemocratic.

Achuba was impeached by the State House of Assembly after receiving a report from a Judicial Panel of Inquiry set up to investigate the allegation of gross-misconduct levelled against him by the governor, Yahaya Bello. The duo have been at loggerhead over the weeks.

In a statement signed by the Deputy Director, Public Communications Committee of the PDP Campaign Council, Mr Austin Okai, on Saturday in Lokoja, the state capital, Wada said the panel report was set aside by the state lawmakers to impeach him.

According to reports, Achuba was not found guilty of the sundry allegations of gross misconduct levelled against him and he was exonerated by the panel.

While statting that the action of the lawmakers amounted to “complete miscarriage of justice”, the PDP governorship candidate said the purported impeachment is unacceptable, illegal, immodest, null and void.

“The decision is a complete departure from the recommendation of the panel that investigated the allegations,” he said.

Wada, therefore, challenged the state government and the lawmakers to publish the reports of the panel constituted by the State Chief Judge, Justice Nasir Ajanah, to investigate the allegations as part of the process of impeachment.

He, therefore, called on the leadership of state not to replace Achuba to avoid wanton political profligacy, describing as haphazard, the decision of the state government to swear in the governor’s former Chief of Staff, Chief Edward Onoja, on Saturday, as Achuba’s replacement.
