- Says a southerner would have been rich like Dangote if he had gotten the support he has been getting from the Federal Government.
- Says Kanu captured the imagination of the Igbo youths and believe in their emancipation.
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Femi Fani-Kayode has said there is no man that is as popular in the South East today as the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu.
He added that all the Igbo Governors, legislators, politicians and traditional rulers combined cannot match him in terms of mass followership and popularity.
“He has captured the imagination of the Igbo youths, he stands for an ideal and he believes in the total emancipation of the Igbo and establishment of the independent, free and sovereign nation of Biafra.
“I have met this man and I have weighed his soul by looking deep into his eyes. Rarely have I seen such passion, strength, commitment, fortitude, doggedness and courage displayed in the Nigerian political space,” he said.
He also reacted to a statement made by Kaduna Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, who said that northern Nigeria still feeds the nation, saying that’s untrue.
“The north has NEVER fed the nation but has ALWAYS lived off her. It has depended on the south for EVERYTHING for 105 yrs.
“Were it not for southern resources, kindness and generosity the north would still be a barren desert.
Speaking on the wealth of Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote whom el-Rufai thanked God for that he is at least from the northern part of the country, Fani-Kayode said any southern businessman that received the kind of support and protection that Dangote has received from successive Federal Government’s over the last 40 years would be the richest man in the world today.
