Angry Youths Set Suspected Armed Robber Ablaze In Delta State

An armed robbery suspect was yesterday, January 24, set ablaze by residents of Agbarho community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria, for allegedly murdering his victim during a robbery operation.

The venue of the incident according to various reports in the community happened at the famous Agbarho Five-Junction at about 8 pm local time.

According to one of the reports gathered by iDONSABI, the suspect together with two of his gang members and accomplices, had accosted their victim and murdered him after forcefully taken possession of some cash and other personal items he owned.

The suspect who was set ablaze by residents of Agbarho community in Ugheli North Local Government area of Delta state was reported to have ran out of luck when witnesses at the scene of the crime raised the alarm of the robbery incident thereby draw the attention of the angry youths who did not hesitate to run after the gunmen who wanted to escape.

However, two of the three-man gang were reported to have escaped during the chase to get the gunmen by the angry youths.

The source stated that:

“The suspected armed robber in his bid to escape shot sporadically into the air with a locally made pistol until he ran out of bullet. He was apprehended and beaten thoroughly before he was set ablaze.”

However, the Delta State Police Relations Officer identified to be DSP Andrew Aniamala, while he confirmed the incident, went ahead to warn the general public and residents against participating in jungle justice. He further stated that residents should not think of participating in jungle justice, but alert the law enforcement agencies in order for them to carry out their job diligently and make sure the accused is dealt with.
