Another plane crash – Pakistani plane crashes, 47 dead

Wednesday, Pakistani local media reported there has been a plane crash involving a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

The ill-fated flight had more than 40 people on board and crashed in the north of the middle-eastern country.

Many Pakistani news outlets including Dawn News TV and Geo News citing civil aviation sources, reported that the plane lost contact with civil aviation authority and the cell tower at around 4.30 p.m. yesterday.

A statement released by the airline said:

“Flight PK-661 lost contact with the control tower on its way from Chitral to Islamabad a short while ago.
“All resources are being mobilized to locate the aircraft”.

A regional police official told reporters that the plane had crashed near Hevalian, 43 miles (70km) from Islamabad. Reports also claim that none of the 47 passengers aboard the flight had survived after the plane crashed into the mountains.

Song writer – Junaid Jamshed is believed to had been a passenger on the doomed flight.

A previous plane crash in 2006 has raised eyeballs of critics with many analysts accusing the national carrier of complacency and being culpable for safety failures – 44 people died in that 2006 crash.

In 2007, flights by the Pakistani national carrier were banned by the European Union over deplorable safety condition.

Late last month an airbus carrying 77 people including players and directors of Brazilian football club, Chapecoenese, crashed after it ran out of fuel, killing 19 players of the Brazilian football club – 6 people survived the crash.
