Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard Out For Three Weeks

Manchester United attackers, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard who both sustained injuries in their Champions League encounter with French Champions, Paris Saint Germain could be out for three to five weeks through injury according to a report by The Guardian.

The injury to both players could see them miss a FA Cup tie with Chelsea and Premier League match against Liverpool

Solskjaer on the injured players had this to say: “I think they’ll be out for two to three weeks. Then you’re looking at young players [to come in]: Mason Greenwood – his time to step in and he’s injured unfortunately, out for a couple of weeks as well. Sometimes that’s how the luck goes but Mason will get his chance.”

Martial and Lingard are out with a groin and hamstring injuries respectively and according to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, it could be a time for Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku to step up their games and possibly fight their way into United’s Starting XI.

Solskjaer said: “Yeah, it might be. We’ve got forward options but Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong have been training with us all week so there’s a big chance they’ll be involved. Alexis, Romelu, Chongy or Angel.”

The Norwegian gaffer thinks that it is time for the club to look to its squad depth for strength and numbers needed in their fourth coming games if they should keep to their unbeaten run in the league after losing out in their game against PSG.

Before their Champions League tie with PSG, Manchester United have remained unbeaten under the reins of caretaker manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and they will be looking to maintain a fine run in the league that has seen them move to fourth place on the Premier League table.

Next up for the Red devils is a FA Cup match-up against 6th-placed Chelsea.
