APC NWC suspends Okorocha, Amosun
Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and his colleague, Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State have both been suspended.
The National Working Committee of the All Progressive Peoples Congress (APC) has announced the suspension of the duo following accusations of anti-party activities.
Rochas Okorocha was accused of supporting Uche Nwosu of the Action Alliance (AA) who also happens to be his son-in law.
On the other hand, Amosun supports Adekunle Akinlade of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Following the outcome of the February 23 Nationa Assembly elections, Okorocha and Amosun clinched elections into the Nigerian Senate.
However, their victories did not stop the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress from suspending them.
The APC had also emerged victorious in the February 23 presidential elections which saw the party flag bearer, Muhammadu Buhari re-elected into office as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Okorocha of Imo State and Amosun of Ogun State were both accused of fielding and supporting governorship candidates in their states different from the candidates of the APC.
