APC Urges Police IG to Probe Attack on Oshiomhole

  • Says people of Edo state deserve to live in peace.
  • The APC leader has called for calm and instructed his followers to go about their businesses peacefully.

The political crisis in Edo State in the camp of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) continues to generate more controversy as the party as called on the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, to investigate and prosecute those behind the alleged attempt on the life of it’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

The call was made by the party in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu.

“The All Progressives Congress (APC) condemns Saturday evening’s attack on the Benin residence of the Party’s National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole by political thugs.

“Although the APC National Chairman has rightly called for calm after the apparent attempt on his life, we call on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Adamu and other relevant security outfits to investigate the ugly incident and prosecute the sponsors and attackers,” part of the statement reads.

While condemning the alleged attack on Oshiomhole’s Benin residence on Saturday, suggested that the attack was politically motivated and aimed at inciting violence in the state.

Issa-Onilu who noted that the APC leader had although called for calm and instructed his followers to go about their businesses peacefully, said the people of the state deserve an atmosphere that is free from intimidation and threat to their lives.

“In Edo State, just as in any other state, everyone must be free to go about their normal and legitimate activities without harassment, intimidation, threat to life and property.

“It is clear that the sponsors of the attack are bent on causing crisis in the state in pursuit of their desperate and unpopular political interests. Human life is greater that anyone’s political ambition”, the statement said.
