Arteta Close To Being Named Arsenal New Manager

Manchester City manager, Mikel Arteta is touted to make a return to the Emirates stadium after Manchester City’s clash with Oxford United in the Carabao Cup.

The North London club are confident they can seal a move for the former Gunner after the Citizens Carabao Cup clash with Oxford.

Arsenal have held continuous talks with the former Arsenal player throughout the week and are reportedly on the brink of landing the 37-year-old as a replacement for the sacked Unai Emery.

The former captain is expected to sign a contract that will see him remain at the Emirates stadium till 2023 following detailed discussions with the Arsenal hierarchy, including director Josh Kroenke, who is a son of owner Stan.

Talks between both parties have accelerated quickly with director Vinai Venkatesham and director of operations Huss Fahmy pictured coming from house of the Spaniard in the early hours of Monday morning.

Guardiola only few days ago also confirmed that both parties were in talks over a possible move of the 37-year-old to the Emirates.

“He’s talking with Arsenal and I don’t know what will happen and when but Mikel is an incredible person,” said Guardiola.

“We were so smart to pick him up and now the others want him I’m not surprised.

“He’s a good manager, that’s why he’s done well with us. He’s an adult, he can make up his own mind about what he wants to do.

“I was aware of the meeting with on Sunday night. Mikel has been very honest with me all through this situation but for now he’s still a member of the City staff and part of our group.”

It was business as usual for Arteta on Tuesday as he alongside Guardiola led the training session for the Citizens. However talks with Arsenal have continued as both have also held conversations about a possible compensation package.
