Atalanta Vs AC Milan Serie A 16 February Review

An AC Milan team inspired by a brace from Krzysztof Piatek came back from one goal down to humiliate Atalanta by a 3-1 scoreline and secure their place in fourth position on the Serie A log.

Krzysztof Piatek cancelled out Remo Freuler’s first half goal with goals on either side of half-time to put Milan ahead and take his personally tally in the red and black striped shirt to six in five games since his January move to Gattuso’s side.

The result could prove decisive in the race for Champions League qualification with only one point separating the two sides before the start of the game.

Piatek has broken a record previously set by Mario Balotelli in 2013 having scored in each of his first three starts for the club and against Serie A sides, Cagliari and Roma.

The 23-yr old has taken his tally to 17 goals between Milan and Genoa just behind Cristiano Ronaldo’s 19 and Messi’s 22 goals.

Atalanta started the game on the front foot and got rewarded for their hardwork within just 33 minutes of play after Freuler latched onto Josip Illicic’s cut-back to give his side the needed lead.

Twenty-three year old Piatek soon equalized in the stoppage time of the first forty-five minutes with an incredible left-footed volley which took his tally in Milan to five.

The comeback was soon completed when Calhanoglu pounced on a defensive gaffe to rifle a shot into the far corner of Atalanta’s goal having shot from outside the box. How incredible.

Soon after, Piatek secured all three points for the visitors after heading home from a corner with just little over sixty minutes done.

Milan have now opened u p a four-point gap over Lazio and Roma who have their fixtures against Genoa and Bologna respectively.
