Barcelona Fails To Secure A Win Against Resilient Lyon In UCL tie.

Barcelona failed to secure a win in France where they locked horns with Lyon despite having the better of the ball possession percentage and firing 25 shots in total. This match makes it the Blaugranas fourth draw in as many as their last five matches.

The Blaugranas were far-off their best and couldn’t reciprocate the kind of dominance we have come to know Barcelona with when they have Lionel Messi on the turf.

Although it must be pointed out that Barcelona were indeed dominant in possession in an entertaining first half but couldn’t quite make the mark.

That said, they would count themselves lucky to have the German wall, Marc Andre Ter Stergen in-between the sticks as they would have been gutted by Martin Terrier 25-yard shot but the German was on hand to tip it off onto the crossbar.

Barcelona held on to possession with Messi trying in vain to open up the defence. They must have been disgusted by the fact that Lyon had just made two good shots at goal within the first 25 minutes even with lesser possession.

But who’s to blame really for their woes after Dembele failed to come out tops in a one-on-one situation. The youngster dribbled past Leo Dubois on the left flank but failed to tuck it into the goal far beyond the reach of Leo Dubois.

After the break, both teams ran out of steam with none offering any real chances at goal or so you think. Lopes was called to action having being forced to keep away Messi’s angled shot and Coutinho’s in the 76th.

The Blaugranas held on to the ball and had probably settled for a draw here having in mind that they could topple over the French side at Camp Nou.

They would however be haunted by the memories here as they have now gone without a win in their last six games in the knock out stages of the competition.
