Spanish giants, FC Barcelona have announced the sacking of Ernesto Valverde, who fans of the club have recently blamed for their woes.
He has now been replaced by former Real Betis coach, Quique Setien.
Ernesto Valverde helped the Blaugranas to two Laliga titles during his time at the Camp Nou including a double in his first season.
He also made a couple of interesting signings like Arthur Melo, Clement Lenglet and Antoinne Griezmann. However, the Spanish boss seemed to step on a landmine for every gold he unheated.
Two consecutive humiliating defeats at the knockout rounds of the Champions league threatened his seat at the Camp Nou.
The first came against Roma in the 2017/18 campaign, with the Italian side staging an embarrassing comeback with a 3-0 win. Barcelona had previously won Roma 4-1 in the first leg of the encounter but lost the tie on away goals.
They also faced a humiliating defeat at the Anfield stadium in the semis last term, sparking up revolt against Valverde.
This season, they have also conceded a number of dismal displays including the El Clasico and the latest of which was a 3-2 loss to Atletico Madrid in the semifinals of the Supercopa, a title which their fiercest rivals, Real Madrid later went on to win.
Quique Setien, 61, has now been appointed head coach of the Blaugranas. The 61-year-old helped Real Betis to their highest ever finish since 2005 and to the semifinals of the Copa del Rey before leaving in May, 2019.
The former Betis gaffer has agreed to a two-and-a-half year deal with the Spanish Champions and would be presented officially to the media at about 1:30pm on Tuesday.
In an official statement made by Barcelona, the club said they had reached an agreement with former manager, Valverde, to end his contract deal. They then went ahead to thank the Spanish boss for his commitment, professionalism, dedication and positive treatment for Barcelona and all of its family.
