Bayern Munich Vs Liverpool UCL 13 March Preview

Bayern Munich and Liverpool will both slug it out once more, this time at the Alianz Arena, after the first leg of their last-16 tie ended in a goalless draw.

Bayern Munich

Bayern looked the happier of the two with the stalemate they played out at the Anfield. In subtle fashion, they had kept Liverpool attackers quiet.

Robert Lewandowski is born for these kind of fixtures having scored 23 goals in his last 22 Champions League games at the Allianz Arena.

Pre-match talks before the first leg had it that Bayern were on a poor run of form and were positioned in 2nd place on the Bundesliga, some points adrift of Borussia Dortmund.

But since then they have won 11 of their last 13 matches including a 6-0 hammering of Wolfsburg. A repeat of such performance would most definitely draw curtains over Liverpool’s Champions League hopes.

Liverpool

In sharp contrast to Bayern, Liverpool have slipped and lost control of top spot to Manchester City. The Reds are now a point behind Manchester City who are gunning for a quadruple including the Premier League crown.

The Reds’ title charge has stuttered over the weeks. They are already out of the FA, beaten in the third round of the EFL Cup and a Champions League exit at this stage could bring alive the ‘bottlers’ chants once again and ultimately leave all of Klopp’s eggs in one basket.

Worringly, Liverpool’s only goal in their three away Champions league games this season has been a James Milner penalty. The attack would have to find synergy if they are to bring about a win.
