The Benue State Police have recovered not less than 20 vehicles from wanted armed militia kingpin, Terwase Akwaza, widely known as Gana.
In August this year, the Benue State police declared Terwase Akwaza wanted even though the State Government led by Governor Samuel Ortom had earlier granted him amnesty.
Akwaza was however, declared wanted by the police in connection with the acts of kidnapping and robbery as well as terrorizing residents within Benue and even Taraba state.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Bashir Makama, stated during a press conference held in Makurdi, that the Police had recovered 20 vehicles of different categories from the militia gang. The police also paraded about 24 suspects who were being held for various crimes.
Makama further explained that the 20 vehicles which were recovered, were discovered to have been robbed from innocent people in the State by the Gana-led gang. The police went on to explain that some of the vehicles were recovered at the point of sale as the Gana gang tried to sell them for cash since the militia group were running low on cash following a seige by men of the armed forces.
The police commissioner enjoined the entire members of the public to offer useful information to men of the police force, stating that such information would most likely lead to the arrest of other criminals still operating in the state as well as militia kingpin Terwase Akwaza AKA Gana.
