Benue State Governorship Election Declared Inconclusive by INEC

The governorship election conducted in Benue state on Saturday has been declared inconclusive, according to officials from INEC.

The Collation officer in Benue state identified as Professor Sebastine Maimako, announced this at the state collation centre located within the INEC headquarters in Makurdi on Monday afternoon.

Professor Maimako stated that the election was declared inconclusive based on the fact the 121,011 eligible voters were either not able to vote or election did not hold in their areas where they voted.

Professor Maimako also said that the incumbent governor of Benue state identified as Samuel Ortom of the PDP scored the highest number of votes of 410,576 and is closely followed by Emmanuel Jime of the APC who polled a total number of 329,022 votes.

Professor Sebastine Maimako concluded by saying that a new date would be announced for a rerun within 21 days.
