Biography of Falz
Falz Early Life
Folarin Falana aka Falz was born on the 27th of October 1990 to Femi and Funmi Falana, who are distinguished lawyers and human rights activists. He has two other siblings. He attended St. Leos Catholic Primary School, Ikeja Lagos and also the Olashore International Secondary School, Osun State, Nigeria.
Falz went to study Law at the University of Reading United Kingdom and graduated with an LLB. Honours in Law. He moved back to Nigeria to start attend the compulsory law school in Abuja and was called to bar in February 2012.
His singing career started way back in the Secondary school when he formed a group he called The School Boys with his friend long before he entered the industry professionally in 2009. In this same year while in high school, Falz released a compilation of songs he has been recording and this he did from the church choir.
Falz Rise to Fame
The title of the compilation of the songs he called Sharaka: The Mix tape. After that he went on to release five more singles. They young Falz came into limelight when his single Marry me featuring Yemi Alade and Poe won him a nomination for Best Collaboration of the Year category for 2015 Nigerian Entertainment Awards. In the same award he got nominated for Best Rap Act of the Year and the Best New Act to watch categories.
He presently owns his own record label which is called Bahd Guys Records.
He became an Instagram sensation with his ello bae skits and also in an interview said he was not a comedian. This is what he had to say, “I have a passion for film, so acting is something I would probably do sooner than later. I plan to have my own TV show. I’m not a comedian”. Falz still tries to make out time to go the court room whenever he is chanced but focuses more on the entertainment industry.
His debut album Wazup Guy was released on 30 May, 2014 and was received critically by music critics. As a young artiste that is multi-talented, Falz has been nominated for quite a number of awards and has also won some of it. Some of it include; tooxclusive Artiste To Watch in 2014, Best Collaboration of the Year at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards 2015, 2016 Best Actor in Comedy/Series at the 2016 African Magic Viewers Choice Award for his role in TV series Jenifa’s diary. In June 2016, he voted for the winner of Viewers Choice Best New International Act at the 2016 BET Awards.
Falz Relationship
Although like every other celebrity, there has been speculations about Falz’s love life, these sepculations are still what they are; speculations. Falz is publicly single.
Falz has really created a niche for himself and that has endeared him to his fans and keeps blazing the trail with his style of music.
