Olamide Adeniji’s Early Life

Olamide Adedeji popularly known as Olamide was born on the 15th of March, 1989 in Bariga, Lagos State, Nigeria. He is known by the name Olamide Badoo. He is a singer and rapper who records most of his songs in Yoruba. He attended Tai Solarin University of Education where he was a part-time student studying Mass Communication.

Olamide’s Rise to Fame

In the year 2000 when he decided to enter the music industry he was asked why he decided to and he responded, “I found out I was gifted in it so I had to explore it, it’s my life, my hustle, my world”. He is the CEO of YBNL records. His style of performance has come to be loved by so many followers of the Nigerian music industry trends. He was opportune to perform at the Hip World Awards in 2010.

Olamide’s debut album titled RapSoDi was released in the year 2011. He got signed to ID Cabasa’s Coded Tunes record label and was managed by Toni Payne. In 2012, he left Coded Tunes to start his own record label YBNL Nation. The lead single in his debut album, Eni Duro was among the tops in various charts on radio stations in Lagos and this led to collaborations with people like WizKid, DBanj, Reminisce, and 9nice.

His second studio album was released in November 2012. The production was handled by Tyrone, Samklef, 2 Kreez, Pheelz and ID Cabasa. Various artistes were also featured in the album and they included; Davido, Tiwa Savage, Kayswitch, Dammy Crane, Reminisce, Samklef, Buckwylla, Minus 2 and Base One. It was supported by singles like Illefo Illuminati, First of all, Stupid and Voice on the Street.

In May 2013 it was rumored that Olamide was signed to DB records. He however debunked these claims on twitter. He however shed more light on this in an interview on Tools’ the Juice where he said it was too late for someone to sign him.

On July 17, 2013 Olamide made history by becoming the first Nigerian artiste to sign and endorsement deal with Ciroc. On October 24, 2013, he also signed a deal with Guinness Nigeria. In November 2013 he became a brand ambassador for Etisalat Nigeria.

Olamide Badoo’s other albums include; Baddest Guy Ever Liveth (2013), Street OT (2014), Eyan Mayweather (2015). Compilation of album is 2 Kings with Phyno.
