Biography of Omoni Oboli
Omoni Oboli is a Nigerian actress, scriptwriter, movie producer, director, entrepreneur and a trained digital filmmaker at the New York Film Academy. She rose to prominence with the premiere of her movie, Being Mrs Elliot at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Early life and background of Omoni Oboli
Omoni Oboli was born on 22nd April, 1978 in Benin City, Edo state. She hails from Mosogar, a small village in Delta State, Nigeria. Omoni Oboli had her primary and secondary education 
in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria before proceeding to study Foreign Languages at the University of Benin, and graduating with a Second Class Upper division She also studied digital film-making at the New York Film Academy.
Her Acting Career
From her early years, Omoni Oboli had always wanted to be an actress so she gave acting a chance after graduation from secondary school. In her secondary school days, Omoni was head of the literary and debating society, as well as the drama club. She wrote, acted in, directed and produced her school plays.
In 1996, She made her acting debut in Bitter Encounter, where she played the role of a secretary. Since then, she has featured as the lead female character in a couple of movies – Not My Will, Destined To Die and Another Campus Tale. She took a brief hiatus from acting to complete her university education. Upon graduation, she got married, and took a break from the industry until 2006. 
The talented actress has some screenplays to her credit including her film Wives On Strike as well as The Rivals, a movie she co-produced with her friend. The movie clinched the award prize for Best International Drama at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival. The festival’s judges rated the movie a 3-star out of 4.
Omoni Oboli definitely knows her onion aa she released her debut movie as a director in 2014. She has starred as the lead actress in mainstream films, including: The Figurine (2009), Anchor Baby (2010), Being Mrs Elliot, and Fifty (2015). The beautiful mother of three is the first actress from Nollywood to win Best Actress in two international festivals for her lead role in the movie Anchor Baby.
Aside from being an actress, Omoni Oboli is also an author. She wrote the book, The Stars Are Ageless.
Legal Issue
Omoni Oboli starred in the movie Okafor’s Law, which premiered on 24 March 2017. However, the movie could not be screened at the premiere due to an injunction by the court. Oboli was accused of copyright infringement by Jude Idada, who claimed to have written part of the script for Okafor’s Law. The movie was released on 31 March 2017.

Omoni Oboli’s Charity
The scriptwriter established the Omoni Oboli foundation in April 2012. The organization aims at bringing well-needed relief to the plight of the less privileged women and children of Nigerian society.
The foundation has successfully executed a number of projects including the feeding of street children in Lagos, feeding and giving over two hundred poor and disadvantaged children at Delta Steel Complex, Aladja, a fun day with practical gifts. The non-governmental organization broadened the mindset of the less privileged children by taking the children of Ecole Divine Nursery Primary and Secondary School to a milk factory to see how it is made and packaged.
On the actress 40th birthday, Omoni Oboli established a feeding initiative called – Sister Lizzy’s Kitchen, through the Omoni Oboli Foundation. Sister Lizzy’s kitchen (named after her late mother) was established to feed 500 children every week.
