Biography of Ramsey Nouah

Ramsey Nouah is a renowned Nigerian actor, film maker and director. He’s one of the veteran actors who has made an indelible mark in the Nigerian movie industry.

Early life and background of Ramsey Noah

Ramsey Nouah was born on the 19th of December 1970 in Lagos State to an Israeli father and a Yoruba mother who hails from Owo, Ondo State. Growing up in Surulere, he attended Atara Primary School and Community Grammar School. He earned a diploma in mass communications from the University of Lagos.

His Acting Career

At age 20, he ventured into acting after being advised by his friend. He began auditioning for TV shows and got the lead role of Jeff in the hit TV show, Fortunes, which ran from 1993 to 1994. This marked the beginning of his career in the Nollywood industry. He has since featured in numerous films starring as the lead role, and has been tagged “Lover boy” for his various roles in romantic movies. In 2010, Ramsey Nouah won the African Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in The Figurine. In 2015, he secured the rights to remake Living in Bondage from Kenneth Nnebue.

He is also the founder of movie production company, Ramseyfilms. Ramsey through his production company has produced films like Elephant in the Room and few short stories for African Magic.

He made his directorial debut with Living in Bondage; Breaking Free which was released in November, 2019.  It received positive critical acclaim and set box office records, ranking 11th overall on the list of highest-grossing Nigerian films of all time. The film saw a short theatrical run in March, bringing its total gross to ₦168.7 million. The movie was critically acclaimed for its direction, cinematography, and soundtrack.

In May 22, 2020, the multiple award-winning blockbuster got premiered on the American streaming platform, Netflix garnering massive viewership and clinching the number 1 spot on the platform.

Ramsey Nouah was a former brand ambassador for Nigerian Telecoms giant, Globacom and United Nations Goodwill Ambassador.

Controversy

Celebrities aren’t strangers to controversies. They’re always trailed by one controversy or the other. Ramsey Nouah isn’t exempted too. On two occasions, he was rumoured to be dead. The first one, it was reported that he had died from internal bleeding complications after falling off a building whilst trying a stunt on a movie set in Kumasi, Ghana. On a second occasion, rumour had it that he suffered acute waist pain before been involved in a fatal car crash. He’s been tagged to so many death reports. Till date, the lover boy is very much alive and doing much okay.
