Fiorentina have announced the signing of Ghanaian star, Kevin-Prince Boateng from Serie A rivals, Sassuolo on a two-year deal.
Boateng pitched Sassuolo as a free agent in the summer of 2018 after a brief stint in the German Bundesliga with club side, Eintracht Frankfurt.
He was limited to only 15 appearances in the first half of last season before making a move to the Nou Camp to play for Spanish giants, Barcelona after he was signed on loan.
However, he was limited to only five appearances with the Blaugranas where he failed to register no goals.
The 32 year old’s physicality and ability to provide good link up plays could provide the focal point that Fiorentina was severely lacking last term, Luis Muriel’s short-lived yet spectacular run of form aside.
The two-year contract deal works for everyone involved in it as it will allow the continuous development of pre-season favourite Dusan Vlahovic without placing on him the pressure of contributing to the first team immediately. This should also give more time for El Cholito Giovanni Simeone to recover from an ongoing lack of confidence.
It is a positive move for Fiorentina, a striker that would serve them for two years.
