– The state government said the Holiday was given to allow people of the state move out to welcome president Muhammadu Buhari

Ahead of President Muhammdu Buhari’s visit to Maiduguri tomorrow, the Borno State Government has declared Thursday a public holiday in honour of the President official visit to the state.

The Borno State Government disclosed that it declared Thursday a public holiday to enable the people of the state move out to give President Buhari a rousing welcome.

However, the Government of the state appealed to people of Borno over the inconvenience that may arise due to the holiday as they called for their support, understanding and cooperation during the presidential visit.

Below is an extract of the announcement released by the Borno state Commissioner for Information, Dr. Mohammed Bulama, on Wednesday, it read:

Sequel to the impending official visit of His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Borno State, the Borno State Government has declared tomorrow, Thursday, 25th April 2019 as a public holiday.

“In view of this, members of the general public are hereby urged to troop out en masse to receive Mr. President and his entourage.

“Government regrets any inconvenience that may be caused to the general public and appeals for their support, understanding and cooperation during the visit.

In another report, Pres. Muhammadu Buhari today made an official trip to Lagos State where he commissioned some projects embarked upon by the Lagos State Government led by Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode.

Pres. Buhari in his statement in Lagos applauded Gov. Ambode for the job done so far.

The Pres. departed Lagos for Abuja at around 3pm via the Murtala Mohammed International Airport.
