Neither Chelsea nor Tianjin have come out to officially confirm the transfer, but reports attributed to the  Daily Mail, are rife that the long-suffering Chelsea midfielder has completed the move.

Mikel is said to have put pen to paper on a deal that will see him earn £140,000 a week. That sum will see him become the best paid Nigerian football ever but still less than some of his former teammates earn at Chelsea.

29-year-old Mikel has been on the Chelsea books since 2006, but has been frozen out under new manager, Antonio Conte, with the midfielder not playing a single minute since the Italian arrived at Stamford Bridge.

He fell down the pecking order with N’Golo Kante, Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas all competing for midfield spots in Conte’s 3-4-3 system.

During his time with Chelsea, Mikel won the Champions League, two Premier League titles and four FA Cups and the Europa league.

Mikel transfer to China continues the the big name acquisitions made by Chinese Super League Clubs, as the likes of Ramires, Oscar, Carlos Tevez, Demba Ba, Lavezzi, Jackson Martinez etc. have all made the big money move to the Far East.
