Fire Guts Another INEC Facility
Barely four days to the Presidential and National Assembly elections, two containers housing Smart Card Readers were on Tuesday gutted by fire at INEC headquarters in Awka, Anambra.
The incident comes two days after the INEC office in Plateau State was destroyed by fire. Other facilities of the commission, including in Abia, have also been damaged by fire weeks before the general election.
Election: U.S. Not Taking Sides – Ambassador
The American ambassador to Nigeria, Stuart Symington, has dismissed claims by the Buhari 2019 Presidential Campaign Council that his country was subtly supporting the opposition as the general elections approach.
The U.S. Embassy via its website on Tuesday said the US government is not taking sides in Nigeria’s electoral process.
Prosecute All Electoral Offenders, Falana Tasks INEC
A human rights lawyer, Barrister Femi Falana (SAN), on Tuesday in Abuja, tasked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure proper prosecution of all electoral offenders in the forthcoming general elections.
Delivering his speech at the public presentation of partnership between Transition Monitoring Group (TMG), Human Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA), Police Service Commission (PSC), (ICPC) and Human Rights Commission on reporting and prosecuting vote trading, Barrister Falana urged INEC not to limit the prosecution to only votes buyers and sellers but also to those who spent money on campaign beyond the stipulation of the electoral act.
Election: Road Transport Employers Promise Buhari 16 Million Votes
The Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) on Tuesday declared its total support for President Muhammadu Buhari promising to mobilise 16 million votes for his reelection in the February 16 presidential poll.
According to him, the association has over 16 million members who are always united in supporting a particular candidate during an election.
Vote Only APC Candidates, Osinbajo Tells Ogun Electorate
Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has told electorate in Ogun State, to vote only candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Feb 16 and March 2 elections respectively.

FG Wants To Jam Telecoms On Saturday – Fayose
The immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has raised the alarm over an alleged plot by the All Progressives Congress, APC-led Federal Government to jam all telecommunications networks from 5:00 am on Saturday till 5:00 pm on Sunday, thus making it impossible for the use of Internet and phone calls during the Presidential and National Assembly elections.
Fayose, who is also the South-West Coordinator of the Atiku/Obi PDP Presidential Campaign Council said the equipment for the “sinister plot” arrived the country from Israel last week and was test run on Thursday and Friday.
EFCC Inaugurates Team To Monitor Vote Buying – Official
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has set up a task force to monitor persons who intend to fund vote buying in the coming elections.
