Presidential Results From Polling Units Announced By INEC Presiding Officers

Election results have started coming in from polling units hours after polling ended in Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections across Nigeria.

A total of 73 presidential candidates participated in the election, but the contest appears to be between incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC and ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the PDP.


Atiku In Clear Lead In Oyo, Wins 9 Out Of 10 LGs So Far Declared

Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is in the clear lead as the official results of Saturday’s polls are being declared by the returning officers.

Atiku won in all the nine out of 10 local government councils so far declared by the returning officers for the councils.


Buhari Leads In 7 Out Of 9 LGAs In Gombe

President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress is galloping away from rival Atiku Abubakar of the PDP in Gombe state, according to the results of nine local government areas announced on Sunday.

Gombe is a PDP state being governed by Alhaji Ibrahim Dankwambo, who is running for the senate on PDP platform.

The results of Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections received in Gombe, show that the All Progressives Congress (APC), is ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in seven of the nine LGAs results announced.


Akwa Ibom APC Debunks ‘Fake Presidential’ Results Published Online

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State has debunked results of the election conducted in the state on Saturday allegedly being circulated online.

In a press release signed by the Chairman of the party in the state, Ini Okopido, made available to the media, he said, he said the release of fake election results allegedly by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) must be stopped at its root.


Lyched Okota Ballot Snatcher Not Our Member ― OPC

Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) on Sunday denied the claim that one of its leaders identified as Ademola was lyched at Okota on Saturday during the Presidential and National Assembly polls in Lagos State.

Publicity Secretary of the group, Barrister Yinka Oguntimehin, dismissed the report in a statement, saying it was not true that its member was stoned by angry electorate following an attempt by hoodlums to truncate the electioneering process in the state.


It’s Too Early To Blame Police, Military For Security Lapses — INEC Chairman

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) Prof Mahmood Yakubu has said it would be premature to adjudge the performance of security agencies in weekend presidential and national assembly elections.

Even as he acknowledged that the process was marred by burning of ballot boxes, papers and election results sheets, Professor Yakubu said his Commission would only pass judgment on the performance of security forces after the conclusion of the entire electoral process.


PDP Insists On Results From Polling Units

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has insisted on the winning results already delivered at the polling units for its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and cautioned that Nigerians will not accept any figures except what was declared and collated from the polling units.

The PDP therefore cautioned INEC to respects the laws and electoral guideline by upholding and declaring results from the polling units as expressed by Nigerians on Saturday.


Saraki Loses Senatorial Seat To APC’s Oloriegbe In Kwara

Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, has lost his seat as Senator representing Kwara central senatorial district of Kwara state under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to his longtime political arch-rival, Dr Yahaya Oloriegbe, of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In the general elections conducted on Saturday, the Senate President lost in all the four local government areas that make up Kwara Central senatorial district, namely Asa, Ilorin West, Ilorin East and Ilorin South local government areas.


Lagos: PDP Reps Candidate Storms Collation Centre In Protest, Denounces Results

There was drama at Ikeja Local Government, the Collation Centre for Lagos West Senatorial District when the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for House of Representatives, Hon. Kunle Okunola, stormed the centre in annoyance.

The PDP candidate, who contested against an incumbent for the Ikeja Federal Constituency 2, Hon. James Faleke of the All Progressives Congress (APC), claimed he won the election.

He stormed the collation centre and immediately pulled up the table being used for the collation, flung away the result sheets thereby creating confusion in the hall, a development which made accredited observers and journalists, among others, run for dear life.

Okunola later collapsed outside the hall and was rushed out of the premises in his Sienna car accompanied by security men.


Jubilation As Shina Peller Wins Iseyin Federal Constituency Seat

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Mr Oluwashinaayomi Peller, the winner of the Iseyin/ Itesiwaju/ Iwajowa and Kajola Federal Constituency seat in Oyo State.

INEC’s returning officer, Prof. Adeniyi Olatunbosun, who declared the result, said Peller polled a total of 44,088 votes to beat PDP’s Najeemdeen Oyedeji, who polled 31,336.
