1. CCT Ordered Me to Suspend Justice Onnoghen – Buhari

Just after the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN Walter Onnoghen, President Buhari has disclosed the reason he suspended him.

President Buhari said he suspended Onnoghen, following an order he had received from the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT on Wednesday 23rd January 2019 asking that he do what was necessary.

Following Onnoghen’s suspension, the President immediately appointed Tanko Mohammed as acting CJN.

In a speech the Presidency released, Buhari said the order from the CCT demanded that the CJN be suspended pending the outcome of his ongoing trial at the tribunal.

2. Buhari suspends Onnoghen, Appoints new CJN

President Muhammadu Buhari has suspended the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen.

Following his suspension, President Buhari on Friday swore-in Justice Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed in acting capacity.

Onnoghen’s suspension was announced by the President’s media aide, Bashir Ahmad on twitter.

Bashir wrote: “President Buhari suspends the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen and appoints Mr. Ibrahim Tanko Muhammed as acting CJN.”

3. Atiku Reacts to CJN Onnoghen’s Suspension by Buhari

The PDP presidential candidate, Waziri Atiku Abubakar has condemned the recent suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN Walter Onnoghen by President Buhari.

The former Vice President described Onnoghen’s suspension as an anti-democratic one.

He says he rejects it in its entirely.

He also called on the suspended Onnoghen and the judicial arm to resist this suspension with every legal and constitutional means possible.

4. Davido Reacts to CJN Onnoghen’s Suspension

Nigerian pop star, Davido, real name, David Adeleke has joined the train of reactors to Buhari’s recent suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN Walter Onnoghen and the immediate appointment of another in his place.

The assurance crooner tweeted, “DEMOCRAZYYYY!! WE ARE IN TROUBLE. “We can’t allow this nonsense.”

5. Buhari Appoints New NDDC MD

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed an acting Managing Director for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

The new appointee whose appointment follows with immediate effect is Professor Nelson Braimbraifa.

6.  Senate, House of Representatives Should Impeach Buhari – Fani-Kayode

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has reacted to the recent suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN Walter Onnoghen by President Buhari.

Fani-Kayode in his reaction condemned President Buhari’s action saying that it was unacceptable for a president in a democracy to suspend the CJN, adding that it was a clear breach of the rule of law and Nigeria constitution.

He then called on the Senate and House of Representatives to immediately impeach Buhari.

He also revealed that people had accused him of being a alarmist when he earlier warned them that Buhari was a “fantastic monster”.

“Well I doubt they are laughing anymore”, he added.

7. Buhari’s Govt Backs US, UK Threats to Deny “Election Rigging” Politicians Visas

The FG on Friday backed the decision of the United States and the United Kingdom to deny visa to any politician who tries to influence the elections or incite election violence.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed said the FG was in full support of the threats.

He also said the warning had come after the government raised an alarm that some politicians plot to rig the elections and instigate widespread election violence.

8. INEC Reveals Number of Personnel Needed to Conduct Election

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, on Friday announced that the commission needs no fewer than 2 million personnel to conduct the forthcoming general elections.

Yakubu said this through the chairman, Board of the Electoral Institute (BEI), Dr. Sa’ad Idris during the election security training for INEC personnel in Kano State.

9. I’m Not After Otedola’s Money — Mr. Eazi

Singer, Mr. Eazi, who is in a relationship with Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire oil mogul, Femi Otedola has constantly being the subject of speculations.

The speculators especially on social media have always accused him of dating the billionaire’s daughter because of her father’s wealth and not because he loved her.

However, in a chat with Showtime, the singer said will talk about his love life publicly only when he is getting paid to do that.

He said: “When I do, it will be Netflix exclusive and I will be paid to talk about it.”

10. I’m Ready to Lead the World Bank – Okonjo-Iweala

Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala says she is ready to lead the World Bank, if nominated for the job.

Okonjo-Iweala made her desire to lead the World Bank known on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum held in Davos.

Okonjo said she knows she is ready because she contested the last time in 2012, and fast forward to now, many people were already asking her the question.
