Buhari Lauds Tinubu at 67

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday described the National Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu as one of the strong pillars of Nigeria’s democracy.

In a congratulatory message on Tinubu’s 67th birthday released by Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, President Buhari relished on his selflessness in serving his country and making life better for many.

According to Buhari, Tinubu’s uncompromising posture in the face of injustice and refusal to follow the path of least resistance for personal gains stand him out as a rare breed and one of the cornerstones of Nigeria’s democracy, especially with his track record of persistence, consistency and effective leadership.

Atiku, Three Other Candidates Challenges Buhari in Court

Three presidential candidates in the February 23 election have joined Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential candidate, to challenge President Muhamadu Buhari’s reelection.

The candidates; Chief Ambrose Owuruof the Hope Democratic Party (HDP); Aminchi Habu of the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM),and Geff Chizee Ojinka of the Coalition for Change (C4C) submitted petitions to the Presidential Election Tribunal in Abuja, demanding that the tribunal should declare the results of the election as null and void.

The four petitions were displayed at the Court of Appeal in Abuja, the venue of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

Buhari Lauds First Bank For Nigeria Proud

President Muhammadu Buhari has commended the First Bank of Nigeria (FBN) for representing the country well across several continents.

He said Nigeria must do more to enable the business environment and improve security such as physical security as well as the security of capital.to enable investors to choose Nigeria as an investment destination and be comfortable.

She also assured that the Federal Government will continue to work with the Financial Sector to provide the necessary policies to ensure coverage for more Nigerians.

Rivers Gov Poll: Allegations against Amaechi as False – Awara

The governorship aspirant of Action Congress (AAC) in Rivers State, Biokpomabo Awara, has chided the resignation and move of his running mate, Bomba Yeeh, to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and declared that all his allegations against the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi is false.

While noting that Amaechi and the All Progressives Congress (APC) only offered him and his party unconditional support, due to their shared principles and love for Rivers State, he alleged that a key component of their plot is to attempt to smear the towering image and figure of Amaechi.

Awara also revealed that he has filed a petition against Obo Effanga, INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, saying all well-meaning citizens of Rivers State are dissatisfied with the gross incompetence of the REC and INEC’s decision to continue with the suspended electoral process, which he said is clearly not a fair or transparent process.

Presidential Aide Explains Why Pension Fund Is Invested

The Presidency has cleared the air on the controversy surrounding investment from Government bond and treasury bills.

Speaking on the issue, Tolu Ogunlesi, the Special Assistant on Digital/New Media to President Muhammadu Buhari said Pension funds are invested into government bonds and treasury bills.

While noting that this guarantees investments returns to pensioners, he described a Micro Pension Plan that will be launched by Nigeria’s Pension Commission targeted at the self-employed and persons working in organizations with fewer than 3 employees as another big deal.

A popular Kano Qur’anic reciter, Sheikh Ahmad Sulaiman alongside five other members of the Jammaatul Izalatul Bidia Wa Iqamatus Sunna (JIBWIS) kidnapped 13 days ago by unknown gunmen have gotten their freedom.

The Nigerian Army revealed that that the victims after their release underwent a series of medical check-ups at the brigade’s Medical Center and they are in good health condition as ascertained by the medical examination.

INEC To Conduct Adamawa Supplementary Election Tomorrow

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Thursday 28th March 2019 the supplementary governorship election in Adamawa State to hold tomorrow, March 28 in the state.

The electoral body made the announcement came on Tuesday, some hours after a court lifted its restriction on the commission to conduct the rerun.

The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Adamawa State,  Kassim Gaidam, stated that the commission has made adequate arrangements for the polls to be conducted on Thursday, March 28.

Police Confirms Abduction of Medical Doctor in Zamfara

The Nigeria Police Force, Zamfara State Police Command on Tuesday says that the missing expatriate identified as Jeng Sunail, known to be a medical doctor, who may have been kidnapped by unknown bandits.

Mohammed Sheh, the Zamfara State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in a press statement said the Police made it clear that Jeng Sunail was reported missing at the Tsafe Divisional Police office by one of his colleagues identified as Dr. Li Dong.

Mohammed Shehu said the Commissioner of Police in Zamfara state, Celestine Okoye, ordered officers from the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (CIID) State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) and Anti Kidnapping Squad to team up and begin a drastic investigation and a search and rescue operation.
