1. Police Disconnect Dino Melaye’s Power Supply
As the national drama between Senator Dino Melaye and the Nigerian Police continue, reports has it that the police has cut off the power supply to Dino’s house in an attempt to make his home inhabitable for him.
However, Dino has made it clear that he was outside of Abuja and has warned the Police to stop chasing him around, that he would submit himself when he returns to Abuja.
2. The Remains of Shagari Buried in Sokoto
The remains of former Nigeria president, Shehu Shagari who died at a ripe old age of 93 was laid to rest in his hometown, Shagari Local Government Area of Sokoto state at about 3.30 pm on Saturday.
The funeral prayer was administered by Professor Shehu Galadanchi, former Vice Chancellor, Usmanu Dan Fodiyo University, Sokoto.
Secretary of the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, led a Federal Government delegation to the burial.
3. NANS wants ASUU to to go back to Negotiations with FG
The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS has urged the leadership of ASUU to go back to negotiations with the Federal Government so as to find a lasting solution to what led to the strike.
NANS was forced to speak out following the threat by ASUU not to return to negotiations with the Federal Government.
4. Alex Badeh Was Killed By Professional Marksmen – Badeh’s Associate
Following the announcement by Badeh’s family that the police’ story about the murder and the arrest of Criminals were concocted stories to deceive the public as to the real cause of Badeh’s assassination.
An anonymous source claiming to be an associate to the Late Badeh has also
come out to correlate the family’s stance saying that a crime scene analysis, the bullet’s trajectory and pictures had indicated that Badeh’s killers were not hoodlums but expert marksmen.
He also said the confessional video was a charade, stressing that the ex-CDS was broke and could not pay even his electricity bill and that he had offered to raise him N50,000 which he rejected. According to this anonymous source, “that was why Bade went to the farm to harvest crops to sell but was ambushed and killed.
5. Buhari Plans to Rig 2019 Elections with Python Dance – PDP
The military has announcing its planned third edition of Python Dance on Friday. The military said the exercise would now be conducted nationwide and would commence from January 1, 2019 and last till February 28.
According to the PDP, Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria’s President, intends to use the military operation code named ‘Operation Python Dance 3’ to rig the 2019 presidential election.
Operation Python Dance is a military operation the Nigerian Army used in curtailing the growing influence of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the South East region of the country about a year ago.
6. Linda Ikeji’s Son, Jayce Jeremi’s Gets a New Bentley
The internet entrepreneur has taken to her instagram story to share a video of the Bentley. She said the Bentley has arrived Lagos.
Recall that Linda Ikeji gifted her son Jayce Jeremi a Bentley even before his birth.
Sharing the pictures, she wrote; “Jayce’s Bentley Mulsanne arrived Lagos just in time for the New Year! Yay! The best chapter of my life has begun with this handsome little human. So blessed”!
7. Dangote Not Member Of APC Campaign Council – Femi Adesina
Contrary to the statement earlier issued by the presidential aide on Friday naming Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Adams Oshiomhole, Bola Tinubu, Sen. Ahmed Lawan, Femi Gbajabiamila, Aliko Dangote and Femi Otedola as members of the Special Advisory Committee to President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Presidency said Alhaji Aliko Dangote, is not a card-carrying member of the APC and is not a member of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council, PCC as earlier announced. “He is a member of the Peace Committee, and thus cannot be in a partisan campaign council.’’
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, made this clarification on Friday in Abuja.
8. Man Arrested for Robbery Three Weeks After Winning N4m Lottery
The Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers, Henry Kingsley, 28, from Nembe LGA, Bayelsa State and Moses Roland, 25, from Ughelli-South LGA, Delta State.
They were caught while trying to steal from bank customers during the Christmas celebrations in Yenagoa.
Eye witnesses said one of the suspects had won a jackpot of N4m from football lottery three weeks earlier, before he was arrested for armed robbery.
9. Actress Defends Married Woman Who Showed Up for Burna Boy’s Concert with Another Man
Nollywood actress, Dorothy Njemanze who once won a lawsuit against the FG for labeling her a prostitute has defended of a married woman who showed up for Burna Boy’s December 26th concert with another man, saying married women are human and need space too to enjoy their freedom.
She said, “Those trying to shame the wife, you missed it. Presence of a woman with a man not her husband doesn’t mean she’s having sex with him.
10. Boko Haram ‘Seize Baga town’
Suspected Boko Haram Jihadists have been reported to have hoisted their flag in Baga town after seizing control of it. Hundreds of people fled the town after the militants raided it on Wednesday night, the residents said.
The military however denied Baga had fallen, saying the Militants had been repelled.
11. CBN to Sanction Banks for Infractions on Consumer Complaints
In a circular on ‘Deployment of the Consumer Complaints Management System, CCMS’ on Friday, which was signed by a Director of the CBN, Kofo Salam-Alada, and made available Banks, the circular read that the CBN would apply the necessary sanctions on infractions by Banks.
“With effect from 2nd January, 2019, Banks and Other Financial Institutions, BOFI are required to: Assign tracking number for every complaint received from their customers, issue an acknowledgement which shall contain the assigned tracking number to the customer, and commence upload of complaints to the CCMS on a daily basis.”Some parts of the circular read.
It also added that the BOFIs were enjoined to always comply with the timelines stipulated in the CCMS for resolution of the various categories of complaints.
