1. 5 Airmen Die in Helicopter Crash
There are reports that crew members died on board the Mi-35M Helicopter, which crashed in combat against Boko Haram while providing air support for ground troops in Damasak, Borno state.
The deceased personnel, whose remains were recovered to Maiduguri, are: Flight Lieutenant Perowei Jacob – Pilot in Command; Flight Lieutenant Kaltho Paul Kilyofas – Co-Pilot; Sergeant Auwal Ibrahim – Flight Technician; Lance Corporal Adamu Nura – Gunner;Aircraftman Meshack Ishmael – Gunner.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar was in Maiduguri to convey the condolences of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, President Muhammed Buhari, to personnel of the Air Task Force over the great loss.
2. Aisha Buhari Strikes the ‘4+4’ Buhari Re-election Pose
Wife of the president, Aisha recently struck the 4+4 years pose in support of president buhari’s bid for re-election in Abuja on Thursday Jan 3 2019.
This is coming after the recent outbursts from the wife of the president that there is a cabal in charge of her husband, President Buhari’s Government and that her husband was not in charge.
3. Ndidi Rated Best Nigerian Player in 2018, Makes African 11
Super Eagles and Leicester City midfielder. Wilfred Ndidi has been rated the best Nigerian player for the year 2018 and he was also named in France Football magazine’s 2018 African team of the year.
4. Buhari Appoints His Niece as Chairperson, National Collation Centre
The INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu has on Thursday appointed Mrs. Amina Zakari, a relative of President Muhammadu Buhari as chairperson of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC Advisory Committee and Election Collation Centre Committee.
Individuals and groups from different quarters have however, rejected this appointment saying it poses a threat to our democracy as it signifies a clear ploy to rig the coming elections in favour of the President.

5. Zamfara State Governor Says He is Ready to Quit
The Zamfara State Governor, Mr Abdulaziz Yari, said on Thursday that he was ready to quit if the declaration of state of emergency in the state would end the recent killings and banditry in the state.
However, he revealed that the situation in Zamfara was as a result of lack of adequate security personnel presence in the state.

The insecurity in the state since September 2018 had led to the loss of at least 2,300 people and also affected agricultural activities, over 25,000 cattle has been rustled.
6. Man Caught With Used Sanitary Pads
A middle-aged man was almost lynched by the mob at the Danjuma area of Akure, Ondo State. They had caught him with a nylon bag containing female underwear and used sanitary pants and accused him of planning to use them for ritual purposes as is now common in the Country.
Luckily, luck shined on him as a team of Civil Defence Officers took him away.
His relatives also went to the NSCDC command that rescued him to say that he was mentally ill and that he was fond of picking refuse around the town.
7. Nigeria Exports Fewer Oil Cargoes to US
Oil cargoes departing Nigeria to the United States has fallen to 103,000 bpd in December, down by 48,000 bpd, as new reports showed.
Exports by OPEC nations to the US fell to 1.63 million barrels per day (bpd), down from 1.80 million bpd in November and 1.78 million bpd in October.
OPEC and allies has agreed last month to cut crude production beginning this month by 1.2 million bpd, following a strategy to support the economic principles of when supply is greater than demand.

8. N808B Generated from Vat in 9 Months –NBS
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), says the revenue generated from Value Added Tax (VAT) from sectoral distribution from first to third quarters of 2018 was N808 billion.
VAT is taxed on a product whenever value is added at each stage of the supply chain, from production to the point of sale.
Sectoral Distribution of Value Added Tax for Q2 and Q3, 2018 posted on the bureau’s website, showed consecutive increase in the revenue generated for the three quarters under review.
The report showed that the sum of N273.50 billion was generated as VAT in the third quarter, N266.73 billion in the second quarter and 269.79 billion in first quarter of the year respectively bringing the value to a whooping N808B.
9. Power Sector Gets Low Performance Score
The Managing Director of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), Dr Jamilu Isyaku Gwamma, has scored the performance of the power industry low.
According to him, the reluctance of some power consumers to pay their electricity bills constitutes a major drawback to them
He said since commencing operations, the power vendors were yet to record any profit as the company is still recording annual losses.
He reiterated that for every one kobo of electricity of power that they supply, they lose 70k, and are unable to collect that 70k. According to him, It is a huge loss.

10. Buhari Says Don’t Distract Me, Allow Me Work
President Buhari has urged labour unions to allow his administration concentrate on fixing infrastructure, rather than dishing distractions.
He made the appeal yesterday while hosting the Executive Committee of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in the State House, Abuja.
The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, also urged the students to plead with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) not to gamble with their already set date of graduation.
