Breaking News: Osinbajo writes Senate for additional virement of N135bn in 2017 Budget

Professor Yemi Osinbajo, the Acting President of Nigeria has written to the Senate, requesting for additional virement of N135bn in the already passed 2017 Budget to fund capital projects across many MDAs, especially in the Babatunde Fashola’s ministry of Power, Works and Housing.

It can be recalled that the Senate passed the 2017 budget two months ago. Also, in the letter of request, President Buhari had this to say to the Senate.

“The request has risen due to a number of reasons, including shortfalls in provisions for personnel costs, inadequate provision ab nitio for some items like the amnesty programme, continuing requirements to sustain the war against insurgency, and depreciation of the naira.”
