1.We’ll Reject Anyone Who Rejects N30, 000 Minimum Wage – NLC

Following the nationwide strike over the Federal Government’s refusal to transmit a draft bill on N30,000 National Minimum Wage to the National Assembly for legislation,  organised labour and its civil society allies have kicked up  a nationwide mass protest yesterday to force government the government’s hand.

Yesterday, members of the Imo State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC announced that they would reject anyone who rejects the N30, 000 Minimum Wage, including President Buhari.

Also, Anambra State NLC Chapter vowed not to vote for any political party that did not support the implementation of the new minimum wage.

2. Suspended PDP Deputy National Chairman Defects to APC

Following allegations of anti-party activities leveled against him and his subsequent suspension from the PDP, the suspended Deputy National Chairman (North), Senator Babayo Gamawa has defected to the APC.

The suspended PDP Deputy announced that the party did not give him a fair hearing, an action he said the party would live to regret.

The party had announced the suspension of Gamawa late Monday night for what it called his dereliction of duty and anti-party activities.

However, Gamawa who fielded questions from State House correspondents shortly after paying President Muhammadu a solidarity visit at the Presidential villa, said he chose to join the ruling party in order to align himself with the development effort of President Buhari.

3. Violence Mar APC Campaign Flag-Off in Lagos

Three persons were reported dead and scores injured including journalists, as hoodlums suspected to be members of the National Union Road Transport Workers (NURTW) invaded the campaign flag-off of the APC held at Skypower Ground Ikeja, Lagos.

Crisis started at the venue when suddenly, fight broke out midway between two rival groups, said to be loyal to the Treasurer of NURTW, and a staunch member of the APC in Oshodi, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly called MC Olumo, and Kunle Poly, controlling Lagos Island Transport Union.

The campaign, however, ended abruptly with everyone running for their lives.

4. Only Criminals Afraid of ‘Operation Python Dance’ – FG

The FG on Tuesday announced that only criminals are opposed to the planned nationwide security operation by the military ahead of next month’s presidential election.

Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information, made the declaration at a media briefing in Abuja.

“If you’re not a criminal no need to worry about the military operations because if there is insecurity the same people complaining would also blame the government of not doing enough to protect lives and property,” Mohammed said.

5. IPOB Reveals What Will Kill S’East Governors

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB yesterday reacted to the statement credited to the  South East Governors Forum, SEGF, and Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi that some IPOB members have threatened to kidnap and kill five South-East governors, and commit suicide afterwards.

IPOB in its reaction by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful said it is not a group that takes laws into their hands or engage in shedding blood.

He described the statement from Umahi who spoke on behalf of South-East governors as “reckless, frivolous, unsubstantiated and a perverse statement from a clueless man.”

He added that, “what will rather kill the governors, their chairman and spokesman are years of betrayal and the sacrilegious act committed by them and the Ohaneze Ndigbo against their people, through Operation Python Dance, and not IPOB.”

6. Prophet T. B Joshua Declares 2019 as ‘Very Fearful’ for Nigeria

Prophet T.B. Joshua of the Synagogue Church of Nations, SCOAN, has announced that 2019 will be “very fearful” for Nigeria.

In a YouTube video shared from an undisclosed ‘prayer mountain’, Joshua said he saw this while praying and that there may be interruption of democracy in the year 2019.

The prophet said he was there, “to know the mind of God concerning this fearful year 2019 and also to pray for you and the world at large.”

He also called on Nigerians to pray against “a stopover” and “the interruption of the democratic practice” as Nigeria prepares for the elections in February.

7. Asari Dokubo Reacts to Amaechi’s Leaked Recording, Says its Him

Asari Dokubo has suggested that those in power do not like the duo of Tinibu and Amaech and would go after them after they use them to win their re-elections.

He spoke in reaction to Amaechi’s leaked recording that has sparked a lot of outrage.

In his video that emerged online on Monday evening, Asari said: “Amaechi you’re my brother, these people don’t forgive. They will wait till after election. You and Tinibu are the first people they will deal with.”

Tinibu is the Deputy Chairman of the APC presidential campaign council while Amaechi is the Director General.

In the video, he continued: “It is better for you (Amaechi) to leave now than to wait till the end because when you will cry, the people who are now denying the audio will laugh at you”.

“I know them, I know these people in and out. Amaechi, I am warning you, I beg you in the name of God, leave now”.

“When they come after you, Saraki’s own of being an ‘armed robber’ – a former governor, presidential adviser, and a senator – will be nonsense. Dino Melaye’s own will be child’s play”.

“You have said the truth, I know you said it, you said it…that recording is you, nobody else. Let nobody deny it. So you better leave now that you still have time. You yourself know how they hate you in the presidency”.

“I beg you for your safety, you’re my brother…if anything happen to you I will stand up, they way I stood for Goodluck Jonathan.”

8. Boko Haram Killing Us, Generals ‘Eating Money’ – Soldiers [Video]

Some soldiers fighting Boko Haram in a location believed to be in Borno State have been seen in a video footage on monday seriously fuming at President Buhari and the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai.

An anonymous soldiers, whose accent sounded like a South-southerner in the video, stated that a good number of his colleagues have been killed by Boko Haram recently.

Some soldiers were seen at the background while the voice behind the camera walked round an area. Rickety weapons, vehicles, tyres, tank were also seen from the video.

9. Buhari Blames Gaddafi for Nigeria’s Insecurity Again

According to President Buhari, stooges of former Libya leader, Muamar Gaddafi, constitute the terrorists perpetrating evil acts in Nigeria.

He said the bandits, who escaped from Libya after the death of their leader in 2011, took to terrorism, the brunt of which Nigeria and some other African countries are currently bearing.

Contrary to public belief that killings in some region are the handiwork of Nigerian herders and terrorists, the president is convinced that it is the unsavory legacy of Mr. Gaddafi that is still haunting Nigeria and other countries.

“The Nigerian cattle herder use to carry nothing more than a stick, but these are people with AK-47 and people refuse to reflect on the demise of Gaddafi,” Mr Buhari said in his interview with Arise TV.

10. Tinubu Attacks Atiku, Says Ex-VP not Fit for President

The national leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu, has said former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar does not deserve another shot at being president because he failed to utilize his eight years reign under former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Tinubu said rather than use the opportunity of being in control of the Obasanjo government’s privatization programme to shine, Atiku allowed greed to cloud his judgment and he squandered billions of dollars meant for the power sector.

Tinubu said beyond the sheer ambition of being in power, Atiku had no vision for Nigeria and should therefore be rejected by Nigerians in the February 16 presidential poll.
