Breaking: WAEC Presents Result To Buhari, Opposition Says It Is Fake

On Friday, the West African Examination Council (WAEC) presented confirmation and attestation certificate to President Buhari after lots of criticism and finger-pointing from opposition parties about the inconsistencies surrounding his educational qualifications.

Mr. Femi Adesina, The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, disclosed this on Twitter via his official handle. Adesina wrote, “ WAEC presents attestation certificate and confirmation of school cert result to President Buhari. What will the naysayers say next ?”

The Registrar of the Examination body, Mr. Iyi Uwadiae made the presentation at the President’s mini-conference hall in the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Accompanied by some senior members of the council, Uwadiae presented the certificate during a courtesy visit to the president.

The presentation was witnessed by prominent personalities – Mr. Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation; Mr. Adamu Adamu, Minister of Education; and other presidential aides.

Opposition Party Cries Foul

However, this recent development has generated loud outcries in different quarters, with the opposition party being the loudest. Opposition parties under the shield of Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), have described the sudden release of the President’s WAEC result as suspicious.

They said there were indications that the results were hurriedly released in order to stall the commencement of a suit seeking to disqualify the president from participating in the coming elections. They described the whole fiasco as laughable and a desperate move to shield the president from being disqualified in the 2019 elections.

In a statement issued by the CUPP spokesperson, Ikenga Ugochinyere, he said that WAEC should produce the booklet and official letter containing the scores and records of names of students of the Provincial Secondary School, katsina , now called Government Secondary School.

He added, “Let Nigerians be reminded that a few days ago, the opposition raised the alarm that there was an ongoing move to tamper with the records of WAEC and pressure the leadership into manufacturing a result for President Buhari.

“Today ’s action of WAEC has vindicated our earlier fears and confirmed our stand that WAEC is now competing with Oluwole Market in manufacturing documents .”
