Buhari: DSS Speaks on Security Intruder in Argungu

The Department of State Services (DSS) is taking measures against its personnel found to have been negligent in their duties of protecting President Muhammadu Buhari.

This is on the heel of an intruder who wanted to get an unapproved handshake from the president during his trip to Argungu in Kebbi State on 12th March 2020.

Some has claimed that he was charging towards the president before he was stopped by the security and people close to him.

This was revealed by the service is a statement by its Public Relations Officer of the Service, Dr Peter Afunanya, who also dismissed reports that the presidential detail killed the intruder for breaking the security cordon to attack President Buhari.

The service said one Mohammed Jammil Guddare made a futile attempt to have an unauthorised handshake with the president in Argungu he was arrested by security operatives and thoroughly investigated.

After reviewing the video, the service said they are taking measures against its personnel found to have been negligent in their duties.

The statement read, “The Department of State Services wishes to dismiss reports making the rounds that presidential details killed the intruder that tried to break the security cordon to attack the President and Commander-in-Chief, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR at Argungu, Kebbi State, on 12th March 2020.

The Service wishes to clarify the issue as follows; One Mohammed Jammil Guddare made overzealous but futile attempt to have an unauthorised handshake with the President thus breaching security protocols.

He was stopped by Security details and arrested for thorough investigation. Preliminary investigation reveals that he is not a hostile person but an overzealous enthusiast of the president.

The Service has reviewed the video of the incident and is taking measures against its personnel found to have been negligent in their duties.
