Buhari Seeking Release of ₦10.9 billion for Kogi Few Weeks to Election, Is This Democracy? Omokri Asks

  • Omokri wonders why Buhari is seeking approval of the said fund for Kogi a few weeks to the governorship poll.
  • Kogi state remains the only state out of 25 states that are yet to get approval for the money.

Reno Omokri, a former media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his displeasure towards President Muhammadu Buhari for seeking approval of the National Assembly for the release of ₦10.9 billion to Kogi State few weeks to November 16 Governorship election.

Omokri has been a critic of President Buhari and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). He took to his Twiter page alleging it’s another TraderMoni scam.

“Why does General @MBuhari  want to pay Kogi ₦10.9 billion weeks to election? Why is Kogi special? Is it because they have an @OfficialAPCNg Governor? Why is he not paying the @OfficialPDPNig state of Bayelsa? First Tradermoni, now this? Is this democracy?,” he tweeted.

Ezrel Tabiowo, the Special Assistant to the Senate President on Media in a statement said the amount is for the settlement of inherited local debts and contractual obligations of the federal government to the state for projects executed on behalf of the federal government.

According to the president, Kogi state remains the only state out of 25 states that are yet to get approval for the money in question.

He added that the N10.069 billion is the outstanding amount due to Kogi State Government which is the only state yet to receive a refund.
