Callum Hudson Odoi’s move to Bayern: The Perks
Callum Hudson-Odoi has been the subject of recent transfer rumours as he has garnered interest from Bayern Munich. The German club has submitted two offers for the teenager and have no intention of slowing down on their quest to land the youngster. iDONSABI takes you through details of this transfer and the perks of the move.
According to Sky Germany, Callum Hudson-Odoi has previously submitted a request to Chelsea director, Marina Granovskia on his wish to ply his trade somewhere else. The player has refused to be dissuaded from his decision as his start against Nottingham Forest isn’t going to be a difference maker.
Bayern Munich are said to have tabled an offer in the region of £27m. Although this is nowhere near his release clause put at £40m, the London Club might see off the player who no longer feels welcome at Chelsea. Sarri voiced out his opinions about the transfer and thinks a move to Germany shouldn’t be on the list of cards for the 18-year old. He had this to say when asked whether it was a good move for Hudson: “I don’t think so, because he’s an English player, he’s very young”.

What this deal could mean?
Chelsea is a land of plateaus- I’d like to call it that. Past events haven’t supported Chelsea’s promise to give Hudson more playing time. Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Nathan Ake, Bertrand Traore, Kenedy, Tomas Kalas and Andreas Christensen were all promised that. None of them made 1000 minutes in a season before being shipped off on loan. Loftus-Cheek isn’t an exception. The youngster managed a few starts in three seasons before going off to Selhurst park. Although he’s back, it’s hard to see how much playing time he can hold down. Meanwhile, Trent Alexander Arnold elsewhere has grown in his right back role and has snuck his way into Klopp’s team.
In contrast, Bayern Munich have a soft spot for youngsters. Kingsley in his debut season from Juventus played 2,352 minutes. His next two seasons saw him play between 1000 and 1800 minutes. Joshua Kimmich? That definitely rings a bell. The German played over 2000 minutes in his first season at Bayern and is on his way to making it 4000minutes already. Guess what- he’s just 20.
Callum Hudson-Odoi could well be making a rational choice and a good one at that. Precedence would definitely favour a move to the Allianz Arena.
