Dani Ceballos is the new rave of Twitter after the Real Madrid loanee impressed in his first competitive appearance for the Gunners at the Emirates, assisting both goals by Lacazette or Aubameyang in a 2-1 win over Burnley.
It could be seen that when Ceballos name rang round the Emirates stadium, it rang with the same intensity Santi Cazorla did some years back.
It’s been well over a year since Santi said farewell to Arsenal faithfuls and nearly three years since the Spaniard left the Emirates before succumbing to that dreadful ankle injury.
Since his departure a lot of midfielders have come and gone, each with their own qualities. However, it would be no exaggeration to say that none of have really matched the qualities of Carzola or fill his shoes properly.
That said, Arsenal seem to have just found the perfect replacement in Dani Ceballos on a warm afternoon in North London.
Dani Ceballos’ debut was among the best you’ve ever seen.
Unai Emery brought the Real Madrid loanee into the Starting XI as a replacement for Granit Xhaka who’s out through injury.
The former PSG man gave Ceballos the freedom to roam in a midfield featuring Matteo Guendouzi and Joe Willock .
Asides the two assists provided by the midfielder, it was the quick feet shown by the midfielder that caused an uproar of excitement at the Emirates Stadium.
His corner picked out Lacazette for the first goal even though the French man still had a lot to do in the box after receiving the ball inside a hugely contested penalty area.
However, the first forty-five minutes were sprinkled with moments of magic by Ceballos which evoked memories of his compatriot Cazorla.
When the Spaniard was surrounded by Burnley players, he marauded past them like the ball was tied to his feet.
Arsenal have a tough weekend ahead where they will be poised to lock horns with Liverpool and Unai Emery would have a hard time listing a formidable team but putting Ceballos in the Starting XI wouldn’t be one.
