Chelsea Salvage A Draw Against Bournemouth

A brace from Marcos Alonso couldn’t help Chelsea past Bournemouth as the Blues only managed to salvage a 2-2 draw.

The London Blues had the quickest start to the game, scoring first before the hosts begged them back with a doublt. Alonso then stepped up once again for the West London side at the death of the game, to record a 2-2 draw.

Left-back, Alonso seems to have a thing for tucking goals into the net in recent times after scoring his second goal of the campaign against Tottenham in the Blues last League outing. He then made it two goals in two after slamming home for Chelsea just few minutes after half-the-hour mark.

However Bournemouth who had recorded victories in their last two games against Chelsea took the game by the scruff of its neck, racing into the lead in only three minutes.

Jefferson Lerma powered in the equalizer before Joshua King slotted home. However, the latter’s goal was only allowed after a VAR review.

Chelsea were locked down in their half as the game grew before Alonso found the equalizer.

With that draw, the London Blues has moved four points clear off fifth-placed Manchester United while Bournemouth slip into 17th place following a 3-1 draw by West Ham who overtook them on the Premier League standings.

It’s now been a frustrating set of games for the London Blues who have been relatively unlucky in front of goal. They’ve now struggled to put away games since the injury to first-choice striker, Tammy Abraham. Ironically, it’s their left-back Alonso who’s taken charge of goal responsibilities and bailed them in their past two league  games.
