Chelsea Star Makes U-Turn On Future Decision

Chelsea centre-back, Andreas Christensen has made a U-turn concerning his future, opting to remain at the Stamford Bridge instead.

The Blues gaffer, Maurizio Sarri who prefers a centre-back pairing of Antonio Rudiger and David Luiz left Christensen out of his starting eleven for most parts of the season.

Indeed, the defender had played only one game before January 30 when he went public about his desire of gaining more playing time.

However, the Dane became a regular starter in the second half of the season, aided by an injury to Germany International and first choice centre-back, Rudigeŕ.

The 23 year old represented Chelsea in all Europa league games this term, featuring in 29 games in all competitions with only eight out of 615 minutes played in the Premier League.

With growing speculations that Italian gaffer, Sarri might soon be on his way out from Stamford Bridge, Christensen is contemplating remaining in West London.

“I’m not wondering about my future now and I haven’t done that for some time,” the defender told Danish media while on international duty, preparing for this weekend’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Ireland.

“I’m happy to be in London and, with the way the season has evolved, there’s no reason to think about it anymore.

“I’m only 23, so it’s probably very wise to stay. It’s nice that there is peace and quiet and I can concentrate on playing football.

The 23 year old stressed that he was happy at the club and would even feel much better if he could play as often as he did during the spring last term.

“I have always been happy but there have been times when I wanted to play more.

“If I can play as much in the future as I have done in the spring, then that’s fine.

“The end of the season has really been as good as it could. I got a lot of playing time and we ended up winning a trophy, so it couldn’t be better.”
