Chelsea Stroll Past Southampton With Abraham And Mount Joining In The Party

Chelsea strolled past struggling Southampton to make it four consecutive wins in all competitions at the St. Mary’s.

Chelsea striker, a graduate of the Blues academy has now found the net eight times across all competitions with a delightful club before another academy graduate, Mason Mount added the second just seven minutes later.

The Saints striker, Danny Ings then dragged his team into the game with a goal before a deflected shot from Ngolo Kante and another by Michy Batshuayi sealed the victory for the Blues.

Callum Hudson-Odoi was handed his first Premier League start of the campaign since his return from an awful Achilles injury while Christian Pulisic – who has been a constant on the bench despite his huge transfer fee coming from Dortmund – found his way into the team.

The Saints started on the front foot and nearly went ahead just some seconds into the game when Nathan Redmond sent the ball over 20 yards.

Both sides looked disorganized, and with so many defensive errors, it was only a matter of time that Southampton’s defence gave way.

Seven minutes later, Chelsea added another to their tally, thanks to more shoddy defending from the Saints.

Willian played Mount through with the 20-year-old skipping past Yoshia quite easily and finishing quite emphatically at the near post.

Mason Mount should have found his second only few minutes later but his shot went wide.

Southampton pulled one back through Ings. For a moment, they must have thought themselves back in the game until a third came through Ngolo Kante.

The tempo died in the second half before Southampton rallied round to orchestrate something out of the ordinary but they couldn’t quite hit the mark.

The Blues finally added a fourth after substitute Christian Pulisic and Batshuayi combined to seal all three points for the West London club.
