Chelsea vs Man City – EPL December 2018 Preview and Scores

Match Preview

Chelsea

Chelsea welcome Premier League leaders Manchester City to Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening in a bid to get back to winning ways.

Maurizio Sarri’s side have won just one of their last four league games and have lost two of their last three, including a 2-1 loss to Wolves in midweek with Tottenham leapfrogging them into third. They retain fourth place on goal difference ahead of Arsenal.

The Blues now lie 10 points from Pep Guardiola’s side. Just a few weeks ago the Londoners looked like potential title challengers, and defeat on Saturday could all but end any hopes of challenging for the title, with Man City on the high.

Sarri kept David Luiz and Jorginho on the bench after giving rare starts to Andreas Christensen and Cesc Fabregas at Molineux and both are expected to return for this tie.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek could keep his spot in the side after scoring against Wolves. An ankle problem for Ross Barkley is likely to help his cause, although Mateo Kovacic is also in contention for a midfield spot.

Olivier Giroud could replace Alvaro Morata upfront as the Spaniard failed to impress in the mid-week loss against Wolves.

Willian was also underwhelming at Molineux and so Pedro – who has five Premier League goals to his name already this season – could come in to the front three alongside Eden Hazard.

Chelsea possible starting eleven:

Arrizabalaga; Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Luiz, Alonso; Jorginho, Kante, Kovačić; Pedro, Hazard, Giroud

Sergio Aguero

Manchester City

Manchester City have now gone 15 games unbeaten and  will be looking to make it 16 games as they face a difficult trip to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.

Victory would ensure that they once again top the pile at the end of the weekend, as Liverpool could go top by winning in an earlier fixture on Saturday afternoon.

City were forced to survive a late scare against Watford in the midweek after conceding just their second away goal of the season

Sergio Aguero who is going through a spell in the sidelines because of a muscle strain is likely to miss the match. He has also missed the last two games and Man City fans cant wait to have him back playing again.

Gabriel Jesus is likely to start again in Aguero’s place with in-form Raheem Sterling, Riyadh Mahrez and Leroy Sane all in contention to be selected.

The midfield choice could be between Bernado Silva and Ilkay Gundogan with Kevin DeBruyne still a major doubt due to injury.

Manchester City possible starting eleven:

Ederson; Walker, Stones, Laporte, Delph; Fernandinho, D. Silva, B. Silva; Sané, Sterling, Jesus
