Chelsea’s Hopes Raised As Lewandowski Is Ruled Out With A Knee Injury

Robert Lewandowski has been ruled out for four weeks with a knee injury he picked up in Bayern’s 3-0 demolition of Chelsea.

The Bavarians have been dealt a serious blow eith the injury announcement of the striker who’s had a stellar season. The Pole partially fractured the tibial edge in his left knee joint and might miss the second leg of Chelsea tie as a result.

Lewandowski is also poised to miss the DFB-Pokal last-8 with Schalke, as well as, a host of other games in Germany’s top-flight.

The Bavarians are scheduled to lock horns with Hoffenheim, Augsburg, Union Berlin and Eintracht Frankfurt in the weeks to come.

Fortunately for the German giants, he could be back after the International break, just in time to take on Borussia Dortmund, a match that could potentially decide the League.

League leaders, Bayern Munich lead second-placed RB Leipzig by one point with Dortmund four points adrift the summit of the table.

Bayern boss, Hansi Flick might have to tweak his team in the absence of the enigmatic forward with Thomas Muller the most natural person to fill in the void.

The injury to the 31-year-old could also afford 20-year-old Jann-Fiete Arp a golden chance to prove himself as a true 9 befitting of the German giants. Arp who just recovered from an injury has been featuring as a striker for Bayern II.

Lewandowski played a pivotal role in the 3-0 demolition of Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge, setting up Serge Gnabry twice before rounding off the game.
