Chief Imam Celebrates Birthday in Church

The Chief Imam of Ghana, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, the Chief Imam of Ghana has gotten tongues waggling with the way he celebrated his 100th birthday.

The Christ the King Catholic Church in Accra received an august visitor during the Easter Sunday service as Sheikh Sharabutu went to worship at the church.

Chief Imam Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu, the spokesperson of the National Chief Imam, pointed out that the act was a medium of showing the world the essence of religious tolerance.

Sheikh Shaibu explained the motive behind his decision to celebrate in the church:

Indeed [he attended the church] to send a certain signal in a radical way that the narrative of Islam must change from a religion that is seen to be a religion of hate and war mongering to a religion which is rooted in the principles of love and compassion for humanity,” he said
