Chief Olu Falae retires from active politics

– The National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party SDP, Chief Olu Falae has retired from active politics

– He gave health condition and the internal issue in the SDP as the reasons for his decision 

Chief Olu Falae, the National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party SDP has today announced his retirement from active politics.

The former Federal Government secretary and the Presidential candidate of the Alliance for Democracy AD in the 1999 presidential election gave the reason behind his latest decision today.

Chief Olu Falae, who is 80 years old disclosed that he is retiring from active politics because of his health condition,  which may have been as a result of his age.

And he also added that he is retiring because of the internal issues within the Social Democratic Party especially over the case of who is the party presidential candidate for the 2019 Presidential election between Jerry Gana and Donald Duke.

With this latest development, Chief Olu Falae will be stepping down as the national chairman of the SDP as well.

In another news, the SDP yesterday disclosed it withdrawal from the 2019 Presidential election and instead threw it weight behind the Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress APC, President Mohammed Buhari.

However, despite the latest action from the SDP, the party’s presidential candidate, Donald Duke today made it known that he is still in the Presidential race and will be contesting come 16th of February.

Donald Duke disclosed that the withdrawal of the SDP from the 2019 Presidential election is as a result of the internal issues within the party.

He, however, stated that he will run as president to create a credible third force for the people of Nigeria to vote for apart from the APC and the PDP Presidential candidates.
